SUPERSTUDIO
Superstudio was one of the most influential collectives of the Radical Architecture movement, founded in Florence in 1966 by Adolfo Natalini and Cristiano Toraldo di Francia, together with Gian Piero Frassinelli, Roberto Magris, Alessandro Magris, and Alessandro Poli. Their work challenged traditional architectural norms, promoting a conceptual and visionary approach. Iconic projects such as the Continuous Monument and the Twelve Ideal Cities offered critical reflections on standardization, globalization, and urban utopia.
Superstudio expressed its ideas through collages, films, drawings, and theoretical projects, turning architecture into a medium for social and cultural critique. Although the group disbanded in 1978, its impact endures. Their works have been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the MAXXI in Rome, continuing to inspire generations of architects and designers. Superstudio remains a symbol of innovation and radicalism in modern architecture.
